Special Olympics are held in Pedro Betancourt (+audios)
As part of the activities to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Jaime López Snecada Volunteer Sports Council of Pedro Betancourt municipality hosted the XIX Local Games of the Special Olympics.
The well-attended activity praised INDER’s actions for the benefit of people with disabilities.
The event brought together young athletes, badminton, basketball, baseball five, rhythmic gymnastics and weightlifting, as well as members of the municipal sports departments, representatives of associations of people with disabilities, sports glories of the territory and leaders of political and mass organizations.

Likewise, the opening words of the event were given by Lázaro Plasencia Rodríguez, Municipal Director of Education.

On their part, young Erick Elbis Cordero Crespo and Rosmery Portilla read out the athletic commitments and those of the judges and referees of the activity.

The 19th edition of the Special Olympics Local Games also paid tribute to the 65th anniversary of the revolutionary triumph of January 1st in our Island and to INDER’s work to guarantee the social insertion and development of people with disabilities.
The pioneers of the José Antonio Echeverría elementary school graced the activity with their music.
