Synchronized Guiteras closes the week in Matanzas.

With the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant synchronized to the National Electric System (SEN), the province of Matanzas is coming to the end of a week in which the homage to the heroes Antonio Maceo and Ernesto Guevara on the occasion of the 178th and 95th anniversaries of their birthdays, respectively, was also in the news.

At 10:28 p.m. last Friday, the Guiteras synchronized and began the process of raising the load; it currently generates 235 mega watts and is still in the test phase, Rubén Campos, general director of the industry, confirmed to the Cuban News Agency.

It was also highlighted last week that students summoned by the Union of Young Communists (UJC) led a march on June 14th that, from Antonio Maceo Park in this city, marched through downtown arteries until arriving in front of the mural dedicated to Ernesto Che Guevara in the vicinity of the San Juan River.

Regrettably, it was also reported that the 10-year-old girl who remained in critical condition and under artificial ventilation died on Thursday at the provincial pediatric hospital in Matanzas, due to injuries sustained in the accident that took place on Tuesday in Mayabeque province.

The infant, a native of Artemisa province, was the fourth fatal victim of the collision between a passenger truck and a tanker, which occurred at kilometer 73 of the Via Blanca.

In the cultural field, the 19th El Anaquel Scientific Event was held at the House of Scenic Memory in this city, dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the Sauto Theater, National Monument, the 45th anniversary of Matanzas Editions and the six decades of life of Ruben Dario Salazar, National Theater Award.

It was also announced that 33 students of the Professional School of Arts of Matanzas will conclude their studies this year, students who with vocation, pedagogical encouragement and family support, overcame material shortages in one of the most vulnerable teachings to the effects of the economic blockade of the United States to Cuba.
