The University of Matanzas graduates 1,500 professionals.
In half a century of existence, the University already has 59 thousand graduates, among them 1,500 from other countries.
One thousand 500 professionals received their degrees from the University of Matanzas during a ceremony held at the International Hotel in Varadero.
The rector of the University, Leyda Finalé de la Cruz, praised the resilience of the graduates, who were trained in the midst of the covid-19 and the country’s energy situation.
In his remarks, he thanked the university community for supporting works of social impact and managing crisis situations, such as the fire at the Supertanker Base in Matanzas.
Of the total number of graduates, almost 500 came from the daytime course. The most comprehensive in this modality was Mabelys Crespo Rodríguez, a young woman with a disability. She praised the university’s capacity to adapt and be inclusive, as well as the support she received during her education.
During the ceremony, the 53 Gold Titles and those who received the Merit Award for their contributions to research and teaching were highlighted.

Next September, the students of the School of Technical Sciences will receive their degrees. Students from the Faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities, Education, Physical Culture and Economic Sciences have now completed their studies.
