After concluding the process in the grassroots organizations, the municipal meetings corresponding to the Third National Conference of the Hotel and Tourism Workers Union (SNTHT) began in the country.
The schedule began in Santa Clara and continued in Santiago de Cuba, and will continue its course until completing the 16 of these meetings, the transcendental meetings where the fulfillment of the agreements and tasks of the second conference are examined, projections and objectives for the next five years are approved, and the members of the municipal bureau are elected or ratified.
In Ciénaga de Zapata, Matanzas and Cárdenas will take place the three corresponding to the province of Yumurina, strategic for its position in the structure of the services of the tourist sector, with a contribution of more than 40 percent of the total income generated in the Greater of the Antilles.
Julio Enrique Morales Verea, secretary general of the SNTHT, highlighted the relevance of this moment for the more than 106,000 employees of the Cuban tourism sector, marked by each of the steps of the Third Conference and the assemblies for the presentation and analysis of the Economy and Budget Plan.
Morales reflected on the urgent need to pay as much attention as possible to these spaces, so that they are stripped of any formalism and guarantee the conscious participation of workers in the discussions of issues that decide on the day-to-day life of the collectives, such as raw materials, production, quality in the provision of services, payment systems, distribution and destination of profits or savings, to name a few.
The idea, he explained, is to encourage the debate so that from the initiative, experience and knowledge, new products are designed which, due to their attractiveness, help to fulfill the income plans, which is a strategic objective of the Ministry of Tourism, insisting on the search for non-traditional markets.
Commitment, quality and efficiency is the motto of this Third Conference, this sort of congress that invites from the union operation to achieve an effective, innovative economic exercise, which markets everything it can to meet the goal of 3 million foreign tourists in 2024.
Before the beginning of the municipal conferences, at the base, where the union activity takes place, there was a process of renewal of some leaders and ratification of others, which requires an exhaustive training system with the new positions.
