Matanzas with results at the VI International Convention on Tourism Studies (+photos).
The province of Matanzas recently hosted the VI International Convention on Tourism Studies, CIETCUBA 2023. The event, inaugurated at the University of Havana, moved its activities to Playa Giron, in Cienaga de Zapata.
Under the slogan «For an Intelligent Tourism» the delegates discussed communication, innovation, technology, heritage and other issues related to tourism.
Several Matanzas residents participated in the various conferences and activities. Among them were the company for the preservation of the Ciénaga de Zapata, the Ciénaga de Zapata Integral Tourist Company and the local development project, Libre imagen.
Lázaro Ramón Sosa Morell, in charge of the latter, catalogued through his social networks the conclusions of the event as a «happy ending» and about the experience he commented:
«CIETCUBA 2023 leaves us several lessons learned, it is no coincidence that this edition has been dedicated to Smart Tourism taking the Ciénaga de Zapata Biosphere Reserve as a scenario. The history of our land is long and diverse in terms of tourism development projects and the bar is getting higher and higher to undertake in it, knowing the broad relevance of its natural conditions and the local culture that in its rurality keeps very unique values».
The International Convention on Tourism Studies, which will be held again in two years in the province of Cienfuegos, concluded as an opportunity to discuss tourism and the potential of Matanzas in the sector.
