The importance of strengthening group assemblies as the ideal space for analyzing students’ concerns and interests was one of the central themes of the debate at the Provincial Council of the Federation of Secondary School Students (FEEM) in Matanzas.

In its plenary session, recently held in the city of Matanzas over two days, the main FEEM leaders from each municipality exchanged ideas and perspectives on the organization’s main challenges and commitments, as well as its leading role in defending students’ rights and responsibilities.
The meeting, which was attended by top Party and Government officials from this western province, marked the end of a period of intense work and the beginning of a new phase under the leadership of Amanda Hernández Boffill, who was re-elected as provincial president of the FEEM.

The young woman, a twelfth-grade student at the University College of Journalism, summarized the impact and significance of the meeting for Radio 26.
As the re-elected president explained, the FEEM Provincial Council plenary session was marked by incisive analysis and discussion of crucial issues for secondary school students in the province.

The quality of the teaching and learning process, comprehensive preparation, healthy recreation, values education, vocational training, social networks, the fight against teenage pregnancy and the consumption of drugs or harmful substances, were some of the topics addressed and which constitute a priority for the student organization, which next December celebrates the 55th anniversary of its founding.
