Radio 26 – Matanzas, Cuba

Emisora provincial de Matanzas, Cuba, La Radio de tu Corazón

The exhibition of ornamental and medicinal plants organized by the Asociación Nacional de Aficionados a la Botánica y protección de la Naturaleza Dr. Juan Tomás Roig de Matanzas, returns to its headquarters, the Gener y del Monte provincial library.

In this 49th edition that will take place from December 1 to 5, the expo arrives with two important motivations. This was explained by Marisol Gil Gil, president of this society, which already exceeds three decades of creative work in favor of our environment.

«The first motivation is to have our provincial library already restored and providing services to present this exhibition. What better gift than to return to this social headquarters to share with the people of Matanzas the beauty of the Cuban or exotic flora with its ornamental and medicinal plants.

«We are also exhibiting in salute to the Latin American Medicine Day, due to the importance of Natural and Traditional Medicine. That is why we will have the presence of students and professors from the University of Medical Sciences of Matanzas.

«This space will be propitious to launch the call for the technical workshop on the use of medicinal plants, another of the interests of the National Association of Botany and Nature Protection Amateurs Dr. Juan Tomás Roig».

The assembly and display of this exhibition is possible, said Marisol, thanks to the cooperation of various groups and organizations.

«It has been very important to mount this exhibition in the midst of the current fuel and transportation limitations we face at the country level. The plants require care and conditions for their transportation, but we have succeeded, thanks also to the solidarity and collaboration received from institutions of the municipality such as the Electoral Council, the CITMA service company, the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists, as well as the Union of Architects and Engineers of Cuba».

«It is a true gift to this beautiful institution of Matanzas culture, the Gener and Del Monte. Perhaps that is the reason for the satisfaction and enthusiasm with which its collective has welcomed the development of this exhibition in its hall».

Is it still an expo-sale?

Yes, although we exhibit the most beautiful things that our associates have in their yards and many of these samples are not sold, we always come with offers so that plant lovers can acquire specimens of their preference and also of their possibilities, because this is influenced by the prices. Some are affordable, others not so much because they respond to the particularities of the plant…but there are always options.

«But they also have the opportunity to take home the in-demand rosemary, basil, aloe, chamomile and linden, among many others that we use as substitutes for medicines and hair and skin care products.»

And in this dialogue about what will be the forty-ninth exhibition of ornamental and medicinal plants of nature lovers, a message for the matanceros .

«DO NOT fail to stop by here. If you visit us you will leave very satisfied because spirituality is something that goes beyond any demand and seeing a healthy, beautiful, comforting and energizing plant.

«Also during the tour you can exchange with the associates about the most effective methods to make our garden, big or small, look beautiful all year round».

A seductive invitation from the National Association of Botany and Nature Protection Amateurs «Dr. Juan Tomás Roig» of Matanzas to enjoy our flora at the Gener y del Monte provincial library starting December 1st.

The National Association of Botany and Nature Protection Amateurs Dr. Juan Tomás Roig, has more than 60 members throughout the province, with a growing membership of university students.

It also highlights the presence of people with more than eight decades of life providing knowledge and experience on the cultivation of ornamental and traditional plants.

Among them are personalities such as Juanita Quintero and Lázaro Requeijo, who are honorary members of the association.
