As part of the recreational proposals of this summer season, the Pepe Roque Park in pedro Betancourt hosted the Territorial Book Fair with the presence of writers and publishers of the province.

Sponsored by the Provincial Directorate of Books and the Municipal Directorate of Culture, the event was attended by leading figures of the Matanzas literary scene and became a stage for sharing with the public the latest titles added to the catalog of Ediciones Matanzas.
The event was attended by many writers, publishers and other political, governmental and cultural authorities in the province and the territory.
The repertoire included the children’s books Cuentos de Rocío y Pájaro Añil and Alas para Patricia, by Lourdes Caballero and Leonel García, respectively, as well as the essay Fray Candil: La pluma del diablo and the biography Carpentier, la otra novela, both by author Urbano Martínez Carmenate and presented by publisher Norge Céspedes Díaz, who also promoted his text Todo lo demás es humo: Los escritores hablan (Everything Else is Smoke: Writers Speak).

Similarly, in the lyric section, verses from the poetry collections Palabras en soledad, by poet Hugo Hodelín Santana and A mí también me olvidarán, by cultural promoter Maylan Álvarez Rodríguez, who also told our radio station about the Fair’s potential as a space for cultural exchange and the dissemination of literature in the community.

Also in attendance were Efraín Pérez Izquierdo, director of the Provincial Book and Literature Center; Alfredo Zaldívar Muñoa, director of the Casa de las Letras Digdora Alonso, headquarters of Ediciones Matanzas, and Daniel Cruz Bermúdez, director of Ediciones Aldabón, as well as the musical duo Olguita y Mayito and other exponents of local literary talent, political and governmental authorities and the people of Betancourt in general.
