Matanceros at the VII National Congress of Communicators.
Seven delegates are representing Matanzas at the VII National Congress of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators (ACCS), which is being held at the Havana Convention Palace since December 12th.
Under the maxim «Ethics, professionalism and commitment», this event is taking place in a context marked by the recent approval of the Social Communication Law.
Daymette Montenegro, provincial president of the association in Matanzas, tells Radio 26 about her experiences at the conclave.
«It is an atypical congress, held after the pandemic and the economic reordering, which has brought about significant changes in the communicative processes; coupled with the advantage of now having a Communication Law and an Institute of Information and Communication.
«On the first day, the work report of the organization from 2017 to date was discussed; a critical report, tempered to the reality of the association where the impact on the economic and social development model of the country was valued, as well as the rational and intelligent use of information and communication technologies,» she stressed.
The improvement and training of associates, managers and other professionals linked to the field, in addition to the management of the association itself in terms of the representation of contracts, were other issues addressed, says the provincial president.
«Likewise, the statutes of the ACCS were discussed and the candidates for the new presidency and the National Council, the latter with an annual session, were presented.
«There is a representation of all the provinces of the country, from Guantánamo to Pinar del Río, with very valuable professionals from the different fields of communication, such as organizational communicators, from the training center for communication, marketing, public relations and researchers. It is an environment of multiple knowledge, very enriching to promote a better communicative process,» said Montenegro.
This December 13th will conclude the meeting, which is also expected to define the strategic objectives of the group for the work in the period 2024-2028, taking into account, as expressed by its first vice-president Humberto Fabián, the challenges of the association in the face of the communicational and cultural war to which the Caribbean nation is subjected from abroad and its leading role in the defense of the Cuban Revolution.
