The «Héctor Mederos Argüelles» Sports Museum of Pedro Betancourt municipality inaugurated the special exhibition «Fidel Castro Ruz: father of Cuban sportsmen», as a tribute to the historic leader on the eighth anniversary of his death.
The «Héctor Mederos Argüelles» Sports Museum of Pedro Betancourt municipality inaugurated the special exhibition «Fidel Castro Ruz: father of Cuban sportsmen», as a tribute to the historic leader on the eighth anniversary of his death.
According to Emilio Morales Álvarez, historian of the institution, the exhibition includes a copy of the 1975 LPV Sports Weekly magazine, the summary bulletin of the 1966 Central American Games in Puerto Rico and the original document of the National Basketball Championship in the second category, held in 1968 at the Sports City, where the Commander played as a forward.

Morales Álvarez also underlined the historical significance of this initiative that brings the life and work of the leader of the Cuban revolutionary project closer to the new generations and highlights his vast influence in the field of sports.

The special exhibition «Fidel Castro Ruz: Father of Cuban Sportsmen» is a tribute to the legacy of the undefeated leader and his persistent actions in favor of the promotion of sports as a right of the Antillean people.
