The poetic freshness of Concilio de las aguas

This torrid June 24th, 2023 Water Council, that space where verses and music embrace to sing to love and peace, turned out to be a fresh breeze under the ceiba tree that presides over the Jagged Wheel Park.

Many people from Matanzas were listening to what was happening, when the poets recited their verses and those of great writers such as Dulce María, Fina, Carilda and Digdora or of Milanés, Byrne, Guillén and Fayad, among a dozen bards, until resting in the unmistakable rhyme of Federico García Lorca, in homage to the 120th anniversary of his birth.

The nuanced and sweet voice of singer Olga Margarita Muñoz and the excellence of Mayito Guerrero, on guitar, complemented the dramaturgy of the performance, conducted by writer Alfredo Zaldívar, a born cultural promoter, as Efrahím Pérez Izquierdo, provincial director of Books and Literature, and artists Sergio Roque and Lourdes Fernández Valhuerdi, present this Saturday, St. John’s Day, described him.

In a perfectly conceived conspiracy, poets Maylan Álvarez, Náthaly Hernández, Derbys Domínguez and Daniel Cruz, joined their lyrical gifts to Zaldívar to offer Yumurinos a moment of complicity with music and poetry, which was appreciated as a fresh and stimulating breeze in front of the burning rays of the summer sun in the Historic Center of the Athens of Cuba.
