To strengthen corn drying in Matanzas.

In order to boost corn production and processing in the province of Matanzas, the drying plants belonging to the «La Paquita» farm and the «Camilo II» Popular Council, in the municipalities of Calimete and Pedro Betancourt, respectively, will begin their drying processes as of August 1st.

These processing plants are alternatives to the problems of drying corn on highways, the uselessness of the dryers due to the decrease in rice production and the limitations in terms of inputs due to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on our country by the U.S. government.

Likewise, its execution will contribute not only to fuel savings due to transportation issues, but also to the increase in job offers and territorial self-sufficiency of the grain, as well as to the quality and efficiency in its processing.

Attention must also be paid to the production of corn for animal feed, based on compliance with contracts, the delivery of the technological package and the inputs demanded by farmer-producers.

Undoubtedly, corn is one of the most prized foods of our population and with the implementation of these dryers, the Empresa Agroindustrial de Granos de Matanzas will guarantee its presence in Cuban cuisine.
