Provincial History Prize to be awarded in Matanzas.

Next Monday, July 31st, closes the Cuban Historian’s Day and on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the Yumurina branch of the UNHIC, the Provincial History Prize 2023 will be awarded.

This was announced after a jury evaluated several proposals, it was learned in a working meeting headed by the president of the organization in Matanzas, Juana Ortiz Ricardo.

Emilio Roig de Leuchsenring, Julio Le Riverend, Pablo de la Torriente Brau and others, outstanding humanistic scientists in the province, as well as the forensic team that participated in the identification of the remains of the Girón fighter Máximo Ramón Jauregui Díaz, will also be recognized with national diplomas.

Likewise, the results of the historical research contest of the current year will be announced, among other motivations to end the day scheduled at 9:30 in the morning at the José White Concert Hall.

As 25 years ago, Matanzas historians will remember the presence of the Historian of Havana, Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, in what was the first celebration in Cuba of the Historian’s Day.
