The preparations for the TURNAT 2024 International Nature Tourism Event, to be held in eastern Cuba, are moving forward with the imprint of evident benefits for the leisure products of the destinations of Granma, Guantánamo and Santiago de Cuba.

Nancy Virgen Estrada Milanés, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in the province of Granma, highlighted the check-up of the actions for the repair of the access road to the Marea del Portillo and Farallón del Caribe hotels, both managed by the Cubanacán business group.

Estrada Milanés pointed out the relevant fact of the investment in the road, as well as the visits to the Santo Domingo village, in Alto del Naranjo, 950 feet above sea level, «where you can breathe the fresh air and enjoy the landscape, the flora and fauna of the most majestic mountain massif of the Cuban archipelago, the Sierra Maestra». Legendary nature, he said, in a clear reference to the area’s attractions.

On her Facebook page, the MINTUR delegate of the Granma territory posted the tour of Cayo Blanco, accompanied by colleagues from Guantánamo and Santiago, and also by Francisco Longino Franquiz Domínguez, commercial director and representative of the ECOTUR travel agency.

Precisely, the most relevant Cuban event on leisure tourism will start in Granma province, with the inauguration scheduled for September 24th at the Marea del Portillo Hotel, in the municipality of Pilon, a place loved by tourists from Canada, the main tourist destination in Cuba.

Thematic tours will be held from September 25th to 28th, while the closing ceremony is scheduled for the night of September 29th at the Meliá Santiago Hotel, the last stop of TURNAT 2024, which is expected to receive participants from Spain, Canada, Colombia, Italy and Mexico, among other nations.

The event «will show the strength and opportunity that the island has to develop nature, adventure and rural tourism,» said Franquiz Domínguez, referring to TURNAT 2024 as a pretext «to motivate and promote the design of recreational, educational and environmental culture products, using heritage, cultural and natural values, from a perspective of sustainability with the environment.
