Poems about lights and shadows, certainties and sorrows, monopolized the afternoon at the UNEAC Social House in Matanzas, during a special Verse by Verse, with guests Nathaly Hernandez and Leymen Perez, staged in the Poetry Wednesday, which for four decades has become an expected appointment for writers and artists from the city, the country and other nations.

Introducing the duo, Alfredo Zaldívar, director of Matanzas Editions and winner of the National Publishing Award, pointed out the relevance of this call, an excellent opportunity in which two creators of continuous generations and multiple awards offered a selection of their works, including some unpublished pages.

The young Nathaly, outstanding in her literary production, with awards in various genres, but linked by the poetic breath that surrounds her as a person and writer, showed poems from her first book and subsequent writings.

Leymen, powerful in each word, outlined from several texts his goldsmith power, in the disquisition of external facts mixed with others intrinsic to his way of being, linked to the family, to the cradle, to the Island.

Many of the texts characterized by old and new tendencies of literature, basked in inspirations that can start from a social or intimate daily event, from a torn feeling before a vision that foreshadows an uncertain end by the conviction of the outcome or recreated from the pages of a good book or a piece of art, illuminated before his eyes; in verses that awaken a torrent of ideas, bordering on the symbolic, the surreal, in a figurative language, to the interpretation of the listener.

Verse by verse between two of the most renowned voices of poetry on the island at the beginning of the 21st century.

Written by María Elena Bayón.
