Memorandum of Understanding signed between Vietnam and Matanzas provinces.

A delegation from Lam Dong province, in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, visited the province of Matanzas on Monday to strengthen cooperation ties between the two cities and to highlight the historic ties of friendship that unite the two peoples.

During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of the western Cuban territory and the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province, and a donation of 700 thousand dollars was made to the Health system, a ceremony attended by Susely Morfa González, first secretary of the Party in Matanzas and Juan Carlos Marsán Aguilera, vice chief of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party.

Tran Duc Quan, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, secretary of the provincial Party Committee and chairman of the provincial People’s Council of Lam Dong, and the ambassador of that country on the island, His Excellency Mr. Le Thanh Tung, attended the signing of the bilateral instrument on behalf of the Asian sister nation.

After the signing of the document between Vo Ngoc Hiep, vice president of the Lam Dong People’s Committee, on the Vietnamese side and his counterpart, vice governor Marieta Poey Zamora, representing Matanzas ´s territory, the desire to materialize socio-economic projects and the condemnation of the US blockade of our country were expressed.

The governor of Matanzas, Mario Sabines Lorenzo, thanked the noble gesture of the Vietnamese people and state, an expression of the deep bonds of brotherhood that 63 years of diplomatic relations keep present the legacy of Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro Ruz, historic leaders of both nations.

As part of the visit, the delegation received detailed information on the services at the Comandante Faustino Pérez Hernández University Clinical and Surgical Hospital from its director Taymí Martínez Naranjo, member of the Council of State, who explained to the distinguished visitors the improvement program of the health care center, where areas are being remodeled to provide better care to the population, including the Emergency Service.

 

At the end of the emotional meeting, the Vietnamese delegation presented a donation to the Hospital to improve the conditions of the largest health center in the province, with 500 beds, more than two thousand workers, 53 specialties and a large enrollment of undergraduate students in Medicine and Nursing and 400 specialists in postgraduate courses.
