Solidarity help for Matanzas to be sent from Spain.
A solidarity shipment of sanitary and orthopaedic materials, destined for the province of Matanzas, will leave the port of Barcelona on May 15th, according to the Cubainformación portal.
The Catalan Solidarity Coordinating Committee Defensem Cuba loaded the contributions of individuals, companies and institutions into a 40-foot container on Saturday. The shipment will be financed by the Catalan Fund for Development Cooperation, which brings together various municipalities in Catalonia.
This aid is part of the project Support for Cuba to face the effects of the industrial fire in Matanzas and is included among the solidarity campaigns with Cuba to counteract the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
It adds that before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, Washington’s policy has intensified with 243 new measures, including the unjust inclusion of Cuba on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, with enormous economic repercussions for the island.
Other solidarity shipment from the Canary Islands and Catalonia left for the largest of the Antilles, with help destined for the province of Pinar del Río and the Havana municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, reported Prensa Latina news agency.
