The Jesús «Rabí» Sablón Moreno sugar mill in the municipality of Calimete is about 183 tons (t) short of the sugar production plan of over 30 thousand t, according to Armando Fuentes Alonso, deputy director of Coordination and Supervision of Azcuba, in the province of Matanzas.
The executive explained that the current weather conditions have prevented the cutting of sugarcane in that area, but it is expected to be completed this week to start the conservation and repair work in the industry.
Azcuba’s Deputy Director of Coordination and Supervision recalled that the fuel difficulties are currently affecting the cultivation and planting of sugar cane, soil preparation and the application of herbicides.
According to Fuentes Alonso, in spite of the fact that the harvest was carried out under extremely difficult conditions, the production of derivatives such as alcohols has left more than 35 million pesos in profits for Jesús Sablón Moreno agroindustrial company .
