Trade union boost for food production in Matanzas.

Summoned by the trade union movement of the province of Matanzas, men and women from labor collectives gave on Sunday morning another boost to agricultural production in a territory still far from its potential, due to the quality and abundance of its lands, and the experience of those who cultivate it.

«With this contribution we help to materialize one of the priorities of the Economic and Social Strategy of the Cuban State and particularly of this western territory,» Reynier Reyes Urquiza, general secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Cuban Trade Union Workers (CTC) in Matanzas, told Radio 26.

Reyes added that in the last few months the participation of the workers in calls to make these contributions has grown significantly, a tacit support to turn the province into the most productive one, a desire for which we continue to fight, he recalled.

He highlighted the concentration of voluntary forces in organoponic plants belonging to the sectors, in this effort to improve the food of the employees, and also to contribute to the food of the people.

«It is not by chance to see images spread on social networks from the organoponic La Dignidad, in Gelpi, where we gathered representatives of Education, BANDEC, Construction and Hydraulic Resources, and among other sectors of the production of goods and services», he said.

From the municipality of Cárdenas, Yanlys Yanet Durán Gómez, representative in the province of the National Union of Energy and Mines Workers, highlighted the contribution of the affiliates of such strategic area in the Cárdenas zeoponic, the important source of food two years ago rescued by the Matanzas Agroforestry Company.

The Cárdenas zeoponic, also greened thanks to the union mobilizations of a site where vegetables, vegetables and medicinal plants are harvested.

«We help to make it sustainable over time so that something so valuable is not lost,» admitted Durán Gómez.

Thanks to the changes of labor or productive activities such as these, among other actions, little by little this type of variant of growing food has been recovered in the province, where the CTC insists that each center where there are conditions or outside it, work the land for the benefit of the workers, their families and the people themselves.
