Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport (Ueb) celebrated the 64th anniversary of the Civil Aviation Workers’ Day with the commitment to continue improving the quality, safety and efficiency of its services.

In the presence of the head of the Ministry of Transportation (MITRANS), Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, the results of the airport known as Varadero airport were highlighted, transcendent for its work in the fulfillment of its social purpose, the attention to aircrafts and passengers, as well as in union and social activities.

As evidence of being among the best air terminals in the country, the Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport received the 85th anniversary flag of the constitution of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC), awarded to a select group of collectives in the country on the occasion of the birth of the prestigious organization, which took place on January the 28th, 1939.

Outstanding workers and organizations in their daily work were recognized on February 15, 1960, when the Revolutionary Government decreed the integration of Cuba’s existing commercial airlines into a single business nucleus.

A truly moving moment occurred when tribute was paid to the fallen combatants in the Supertanqueros fire, remembered in a room where the faces of the firefighters of Comando 3, who lost their lives on that fateful day in August 2022, are displayed.

Presiding over the ceremony for the Civil Aviation Day were Pablo Santana, member of the Provincial Party Bureau; Vice Governor Marietta Poey; Osmar Ramírez, General Secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba in Matanzas, who were accompanied by other political, union and government leaders.
