Crocodiles hopeful for a place in the finals.
A well-deserved victory for the Cocodrilos de Matanzas by two runs to one against the Leñadores de Las Tunas, who refused to lose in a Victoria de Girón that hosted the fifth game of the play off.
With a great performance on the mound by Renner Rivero, relieved by Armando Dueñas, who added another victory to his account, they give hope to his team to stay in the fight for the pass to the final.
Center fielder Eduardo Blanco was at his best, with one run batted in and another scored to leave the lumberjacks on the field: «Thank God the job went well today. I just went out to hit the ball, and in these two at-bats I hit it well, and those two connections gave the team the victory».
Ariel Sanchez, an outstanding player from Yumur, also expressed to Radio 26 that «the team has the capacity to come back, the self-esteem is high, now we are going to think about the sixth game, which is what we have to do and each one of us has to do our part. If we achieve that, we can win».
The Crocodiles have a difficult task against the Lumberjacks who have the best offense of the season and are accompanied by a great job on the mound.
According to Ariel, «yesterday’s defeat was because we lacked concentration. Las Tunas is a team that is evenly matched in terms of quality and you can’t give them a break. We had some inaccuracies and they took advantage and won».
These playoffs are considered an early final. Both teams are very strong offensively, and both will fight for their pass to the final of the championship. However, the Matanzas team has good pitching to fight for the championship at the Julio A. Mella Stadium.
