Governor and vice-governor of Matanzas are elected .

This Tuesday, May 21st, at the José White Concert Hall, Marieta Poey Zamora and Lázaro Vicente Suárez Navarro were elected   as governor and vice-governor of the province of Matanzas, respectively.

The Council of State appointed Ulises Gilarte de Nacimiento, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party and the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba and general secretary of the Cuban Workers’ Central to preside over the award ceremony.

The gala was also attended by Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, vice prime minister of the Republic of Cuba, Mario Sabines Lorenzo, first secretary of the Party in the province and other members of the Government and the Party.

During the meeting, the outgoing governor and the incoming governor signed the Act of Conclusion of the Handover and Reception Process. In addition, Poey Zamora and Suarez Navarro signed the Code of Ethics of the Cadres of the Cuban Revolution.

Marieta Poey Zamora and Lázaro Vicente Suárez Navarro were elected governor and vice-governor last May 4 by the delegates of the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power of the province.

Poey Zamora obtained 95.78 percent of the votes according to the figures validated by the Provincial Electoral Council, while Suarez Navarro obtained 93.88 percent of the votes.
