Mariana Grajales: The Eternal Mother of the Nation (+audios).

210 years after her birth, her legacy prevails not as a distant memory, but as a living presence in the ethical and civic formation of our people. Therefore, from the Athens of Cuba, through the voices of those who study and teach her, we evoke her light, her steadfastness, and her everlasting example.
This July 12th, the national calendar calls us to commemorate a distinguished figure whose presence transcends commemorative marbles and stands as the spiritual foundation of the nation: Mariana Grajales Cuello, born in Santiago de Cuba in 1815.
Twenty-one years after her birth, her legacy prevails not as a distant memory, but as a living presence in the ethical and civic formation of our people. Therefore, from the Athens of Cuba, through the voices of those who study and teach her, we evoke her light, her steadfastness, and her everlasting example.
In the context of this anniversary, we spoke with Professor Alba Lina Hernández Sotomayor, librarian at the Augusto César Sandino Elementary School in the municipality of Pedro Betancourt. She told our radio station that it is not enough to remember Mariana as a mother of heroes and a heroine per se, but rather it is essential to understand her as an architect of values, as a woman who knew how to combine tenderness with firmness in times of war and peace.

Mariana remains an ethical benchmark for generations fighting on other fronts for a dignified Cuba. As long as her example is taught, her dedication is practiced, and her name is remembered with reverence, the nation will continue to have its most distinguished progenitor.
