Cuba has adopted a policy of «zero tolerance» towards human trafficking and this type of educational proposals urge to repudiate this alarming problem and, therefore, materialize at the international level the Marti’s precept of the full dignity of man.
Defined by the United Nations Convention in 2000, trafficking in persons is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons by means of threat, coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, abuse of power or vulnerability, for the purpose of exploitation through prostitution, forced labor, slavery, servitude or the removal of organs.
Precisely, the headquarters of the University Branch of Pedro Betancourt was the scene of the workshop «Prevention of child and adolescent trafficking in the national and international context», given by the Master of Science and child psychologist Riquel Arnaldo Díaz Tejeda, who referred to our radio station some statistics regarding this worrying phenomenon.

The teacher and family therapist also emphasized that the initiative was timely in raising public awareness of this serious problem and its global expansion, while helping to strengthen risk perception and the culture of protection in all sectors of society.
