Workshop on Guillain Barré syndrome and oropouche held in Pedro Betancourt.

Several health professionals from the municipality of Pedro Betancourt dedicated a training workshop to Guillain-Barré syndrome at a time when the island is registering new cases of oropouche. The workshop was held at the «Dr. Cesáreo Sánchez» polyclinic in Pedro Betancourt municipalitry.

Several health professionals from the municipality of Pedro Betancourt dedicated a training workshop to Guillain-Barré syndrome at a time when the island is registering new cases of oropouche. The workshop was held at the «Dr. Cesáreo Sánchez» polyclinic in Pedro Betancourt municipalitry.

The activity became a scenario to address issues such as the differential diagnosis of this disease and its relationship with oropouche, as well as the need to strengthen epidemiological surveillance and preventive measures to avoid the spread of the latter and other mosquito-borne viruses.

In this regard, María Mercedes Aldama Oviedo, Assistant Professor and Master in Medical Emergencies of the center said:

Aldama Oviedo also stressed the importance of the meeting to keep doctors, nurses and other workers in the sector up to date in order to optimize the detection of new cases and guarantee efficient and qualified medical attention to patients.

The workshop, which also took place at the «Dr. Félix Rivero Vasallo» polyclinic in Bolondón, was a valuable opportunity to raise awareness among the population about the prevention and treatment of these conditions, as well as to share experiences and strengthen the knowledge and skills of those who watch over our health and wellbeing.
