World No Smoking Day activities take place in Colón municipality.

Various activities are taking place in Colón municipality to mark World No Smoking Day, which is celebrated every May 31st. The head of the Pro-Health department at the Municipal Centre for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, Yodarmis Rodríguez Vázquez, informed that this year the campaign «This is life» is being deployed, aimed at promoting the benefits of a life without tobacco among the new generations.

For this reason, said Rodríguez Vázquez, the actions are directed towards educational institutions where specialists exchange with children, adolescents and young people about the harm of smoking to health and the importance of preventing addictions.

The main activity for the anniversary, she said, will take place on  May 31st, at the Enrique Hard Dávalos primary school, with the awarding of the competition: «This is life, childhood free of tobacco».

«Grow food, not tobacco» is the slogan promoted by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for World No Smoking Day, or World No Tobacco Day 2023, an event for which various activities are being held in the municipality of Colón.
