MINTUR congratulates tour guides on their day.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) in Cuba, Juan Carlos García Granda, congratulated tour guides, creators of experiences, on his X profile, on the occasion of the international day of the practitioners of this profession.
«Today we want to pay tribute to those creators of experiences, who show and accompany visitors around Cuba’s incredible destinations. Happy day to Cuban tourist guides,» the minister posted, referring to those in charge of promoting in the tourism sector the cultural, historical and heritage potential of sites of interest in several countries around the world.
Tourist guides offer guidance and information on the culture, history, gastronomy and tourist sites of any corner of the planet and, with their performance, they promote this important economic activity for the progress of communities.
Created on February 21st during the first International Convention of Tourist Guides held in Austria in 1985, the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) is a non-profit professional organization.
In honor of its creation, the International Day of the Tourist Guide has been celebrated since 1990.
