Los delegados electos a la Asamblea Municipal del Poder Popular (AMPP) ratificaron su voto por las máximas autoridades gubernamentales de la provincia.
In full democratic exercise and in accordance with the provisions of the Magna Carta and the Electoral Law of the country, the delegates of Betancourt gathered in the Cuba theatre in this locality for the election of the governor and vice-governor of the province of Matanzas.
When the votes were counted, the Municipal Electoral Council corroborated the total number of ballots in the ballot box and those declared valid, blank and annulled, as well as the number of votes obtained by the candidates, previously elected at the proposal of the President of the Republic.
Mario Sabines Lorenzo and Marieta Caridad Poey Zamora were ratified with total transparency as governor and vice-governor, respectively, thanks to the free, direct and secret vote of the delegates elected to the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power.
Amaury Díaz Cabrera, president of the Municipal Electoral Council and responsible for the elections together with Marina Yadelsi Morejón Aldama, deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power, told our radio station.

The elections were held simultaneously in Atenas de Cuba and both candidates, in clear compliance with the requirements of being born on the island, having no other citizenship, having reached the age of 30, as well as residing in the province and being in full enjoyment of their civil and political rights, will become the highest government authorities of the province for a period of five years.
