Hydraulic workers repair pipeline in Pedro Betancourt.

The work of these workers takes place just before the 62nd birthday of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources this August 10th.

Due to the existence of leaks in the pipelines of the pumping and re-pumping stations located in the Güira de Macuriges Popular Council and the Dos Mercedes farm, workers of the base business units of Electromechanics and Pedro Betancourt, both of the provincial Aqueduct and Sewerage Company, are carrying out various repair and maintenance works in the area.

Mardiel Surí González, vice-president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, told our radio station that the affected areas include the 31st district of the Arcoiris batey, the 32nd and 33rd districts of the Manuelito community and the 40th district of the batey of the same name, while recognizing the progress in the task, in spite of the complexity of the rehabilitation actions.

Likewise, Surí González stressed the speed in the elimination of the leaks, since the pumping station, located in the vicinity of the village’s cowshed No. 14, needs the aquifer supply of its counterpart in Güira de Macuriges to provide the precious liquid to the community of Manuelito.

The work of these workers takes place precisely on the 62nd anniversary of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources on August 10, which, under the name of Cuban Hydraulic Workers’ Day, becomes an opportunity to highlight the notorious contributions of this organization to the optimal functioning of the national hydraulic infrastructure, the management and conservation of water reserves and the mitigation of the impact of possible droughts and floods, as well as the supply of drinking water to the population.
