The macro project Smart UCMM intelligent university implemented in January of this year seeks to include information and communication technologies in the undergraduate and postgraduate training process at the University of Medical Sciences of Matanzas. Master of Science Cristóbal Mesa Simpson, creator of the project highlighted.
«We are putting the university and medical education into the future. In international centers of higher education, the use of technology is quite common and our center could not be left out of that possibility, therefore implementing a project like this will imply the development of the academic processes developed at the university to a higher level.
«It is not only about putting technology within people’s reach, but also about using it in a different way, with a different purpose, and that implies a change in people’s minds».
The project has three main lines of research; firstly it highlights the creation of an intelligent university, it also focuses on the use of virtual environments and digital transformation.
The implementation of the project ends in 2026 and among its final objectives is the creation of an intelligent virtual hospital based on a simulator of medical situations to contribute to the education of students and the training of teachers.
