More than 17 thousand educators from Matanzas benefited with salary increase (+audio)

According to Radio 26, Esther Acosta Rendón told Radio 26, about 12,70 teachers and professors and 5,414 teaching support workers in Matanzas province benefited from this measure, in accordance with the stipulations of the country’s top management to make additional payments to the workforce of the Education and Health sectors.

Furthermore, the head of the Human Resources Department of the General Directorate of Education (DPE) in this western province, in addition to the salary increase for seniority, 193 employees of the sector who work in the two Pedagogical Training Schools in the territory, in the Alvaro Reynoso Institute and in the Carlos Marx Vocational Pre-University of Exact Sciences (IPVCE), were economically stimulated for their working conditions.

Taking into account  the information provided, the annual state budget allocated for these additional payments amounts to more than 385 million pesos, which to date favor around 17,484 education workers in Matanzas.

Since the entry into force of the new measure, implemented with the purpose of increasing income and stimulating the reincorporation of professionals to the sector, only about 60 teaching professionals and four non-teaching professionals have returned to work in the educational entities, «an aspect that Matanzas must promote in order to achieve quality in the teaching-learning processes and in the integral formation of the students», according to Deputy Minister of Education Dania López Gulbone during an interview granted to Radio 26 on the occasion of her recent visit to the capital of the Yumurina province.
