Preparations for new school year checked in Matanzas.

To guarantee quality and creativity in the beginning and development of the new school year, in spite of the complex scenario of the country, was the main commitment of Matanzas’ educators before the Minister of Education, Doctor of Science Naima Ariatne Trujillo Barreto, during the check-up of the preparations of this western territory for the next school period.

During the meeting, held at the provincial government headquarters, the minister said that with 46 weeks of classes, the next stage, which will begin on September 4th and end in July, will return to its usual schedule and will resume the process of the Third Improvement of the Cuban National Education System, which prioritizes the preparation of teachers and efficiency in the pedagogical activity.

When discussing the measures adopted to make up for the continuing shortage of teachers and professors, Trujillo Barreto called for the use of all possible alternatives and options without neglecting the quality of the educational teaching process.

Other issues discussed were the stimulation of the workers of the sector, the strategies for the differentiated attention to the staff of the Instituto Preuniversitario Vocacional de Ciencias Exactas (IPVCE) Carlos Marx and of the Pedagogical Schools, as well as the alternatives to be used to guarantee, in spite of the current limitations, the transportation of students and teachers, the fulfillment of the construction plan, the delivery of the basic study material according to the adjusted norm, and the gradual sale of uniforms.

In this regard, the provincial director of Education in Matanzas, Edilberto Casanova Armenteros, highlighted the support received by the sector from other entities in the search for solutions to the difficulties identified in order to start the school year with decorum and with institutions ready to prepare the men and women of tomorrow.

The interventions made by Pedro Rodríguez, head of Education in the head municipality, Amarilis Hernández, principal of the elementary school Seguidores de Camilo y Che and the experienced Mathematics teacher of IPVCE, Alfredo Santamarina Linares, were special and emotional in relation to the commitment, responsibility and unconditional dedication demanded by the teaching profession.

Likewise, the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the province Susely Morfa González called to put heart and commitment to the new school year, as well as to defend and protect the educational system as one of the most important achievements of the Cuban social project.

Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC and head of the Department of Attention to the Social Sector and Marieta Poey Zamora, vice governor of Matanzas, also attended the meeting to verify the material and human security of the territory for the upcoming school year.
