The Third National Meeting on Race, Equity, and Social Policies for Development took place, sponsored by the AfroAtenas sociocultural project as part of its ongoing efforts to promote equity and social justice. The event brought together academics, cultural managers, policymakers, and community members to reflect on the persistent challenges related to race and social policies.
Discussions focused on the need to strengthen collaboration among institutions, communities, and research centers, as well as on the implementation of methodologies that allow for impact assessments and the consolidation of sustainable processes of social transformation.
During the day, practical experiences from various regions were shared, with an emphasis on the anti-racist approach and the defense of rights. The program also included cultural presentations that reaffirmed the role of community-based cultural expression as a tool for social cohesion, identity, and development.
The meeting was supported by FLACSO Cuba, CIERIC, the Nicolás Guillén Foundation, the Matanzas Municipal Directorate of Culture, and Brot für die Welt, among other institutions that back this initiative.
