Tribute paid to outstanding Betancourt cultural director.

To the distinguished director of culture Mayra Suárez Guillén the federates dedicated an emotional workshop-homage carried out in the municipal library Manuel Navarro Luna of Pedro Betancourt.

During the activity,those present shared anecdotes and other experiences with Suárez Guillén, honoring his indelible legacy for local and Antillean culture.

Noelia Llanio Santana, local artisan and winner of the Memoria Viva 2022 award, shared her experiences with Mayra and, in her honor, presented her biographical text Ejemplo de Mujer (Example of a Woman).

Suarez Guillen’s relatives, friends and co-workers, as well as representatives of political and mass organizations of the town were also present and the occasion was propitious to give several students of the «28 de Octubre» Basic Secondary School the card that accredits them as members of the Cuban Women’s Federation.

Recognized in the country for her 40 years of uninterrupted work as the longest serving director of culture, Mayra Suárez Guillén is remembered as one of the most important personalities of the sector and her perseverance, proactivity and expertise earned her the affection and admiration of the people of Betancourt.
