Tribute to Education, Science and Sports workers began in the Matanzas.

In Matanzas, as in the rest of the country, the National Union of Education, Science and Sports Workers (SNTECD) initiated since last Wednesday and until the beginning of 2024 a program of activities on the occasion of the National Days of Physical Culture and Sports, this November 19th, of the Educator, next December 22nd and of Cuban Science, next January 15th.

The work of professionals, technicians, specialists, administrative cadres and union leaders in the educational, sports and scientific sectors is an essential objective of the SNTECD’s usual commemoration, also dedicated to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of this representative union, founded in the context of the Constitutive Congress held from November 22nd to 24th, 1961.

Spaces to recognize the most outstanding members and workers, exchanges with literacy teachers, sports glories, retired teachers and students of pedagogical careers, and the presentation of awards and distinctions to a group of teachers and coaches with a meritorious career in the educational and sports system, are some of the activities that until December the 22nd will take place in the province with the purpose of honoring those who have the mission of educating and teaching the new generations.

Likewise, the action plan contemplates special mornings in the collectives, political-cultural events in municipalities and communities, contests, sports and recreational activities, commercial fairs and other initiatives to stimulate educators and soon those who promote science in different institutions.

The day of well-deserved homage to the workers of Education, Science and Sports in the territory of Matanzas has other main motivations, such as the centenary of the birth of José Ramón Fernández, the 62nd anniversary of the glorious Literacy Campaign and the 65th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
