Italian market returns to Starfish Varadero.

After a seven-year absence, the Italian market returns to the Starfish Varadero hotel at the beginning of the tourist season, the period from November to April, when the country receives its main flow of international clients.

Mario Wilmer Duarte Novoa, deputy general manager, described the event as one of the main novelties of the relevant winter period, something possible thanks to the fact that «we were able to renovate the areas dedicated to the Italian Club. The plan is to occupy 80 rooms by 2026. It will be a gradual but sustained growth».

He added that they are in a frank process of «rescuing» that segment of European clients, who became so popular some time ago in Varadero and are working to raise the quality of the tourist product offered.

«The hotel’s upward trend is superior to what happened in previous years. The challenge is to reach occupancy percentages similar to those of 2019, the year before Covid- 19, which as of March 2020 drastically affected the sector,» Duarte Novoa considered.

Growing in the export of services, in the capture of foreign currency so needed by the country, and in visitors with respect to 2022, is another important challenge, added the deputy general manager of Starfish Varadero.

«Bookings for January and February 2024 are good signs for a hotel that will turn 28 years old next December the 28th.»

More comfort, facilities with a renovated image and more extra-hotel options at night in Varadero, distinguish a stage that reinforces with four health posts the already safe medical care in the resort, with specialized services at the International Clinic, summarized Nastia Valdés, delegate of Mintur in Matanzas.
