FC Barcelona returned to the Camp Nou stadium on November 22nd after 909 days playing away from their usual home ground. Their opponent in Matchday 13 of La Liga was Athletic Club de Bilbao.
From the outset, Barça displayed a stable attacking performance, with good ball distribution and a high press that hampered the Bilbao side’s organization. Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the fifth minute, while Ferran Torres, with a brace, and Fermín López completed the 4-0 victory.
Manager Hansi Flick reinforced the high defensive line and achieved a better response compared to previous matches. He also had key players available again, such as goalkeeper Joan García and Brazilian winger Raphinha, the team’s captain.
As a symbolic gesture for the return to the stadium, the Blaugrana wore the phrase «We’re back home» on the front of their shirts. The ceremonial kickoff was performed by a prominent figure from the club.
