Business Management Advances at the Matanzas Anti-Corrosion and Surfactants Center.
The main products include rust-removing solutions and preservative greases, which are in high demand in sectors such as the sugar industry.

The Center for Anticorrosives and Surfactants at the University of Matanzas is showing progress after organizing its production and service activities under a more flexible structure.
Since its creation in 2024, the center has been able to commercialize the scientific results of its team more efficiently.

In its first six months of operation, the center billed 1.8 million pesos and contributed 10 percent of its profits to the government and the university. Harold García Betancourt, the center’s director, commented that by 2025, the 4 million pesos collected had already exceeded initial projections, with expectations of closing the year above 4.5 million.
The main products include rust-removing solutions and preservative greases, which are in high demand in sectors such as the sugar industry. They also offer anti-corrosion protection services for vehicles, custom-designed for each model and with a durability guarantee of six to nine years.
The center is also promoting new developments, including additives to accelerate concrete setting and technologies based on recyclable materials. To expand these lines of business, they are seeking partnerships with state, private, and international partners.

The University of Matanzas, which owns the project, receives 10% of the profits, an amount that could reach 150,000 pesos this year.
The institution provides infrastructure and organizational support, which has allowed this initiative to advance and consolidate a model that integrates university science with economic activity.
