A collaborative workshop began this week at the Indio Hatuey Experimental Station of Pastures and Forages and the El Renacer Farm, within the framework of the FITORED Project, which seeks to strengthen scientific cooperation between Cuba and Brazil.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. C. Odalys Toral expressed her gratitude for the donation received for Finca El Renacer, which is an integral part of the project. This gesture reinforces the commitment between both nations and specialists to advance agroecological practices that benefit local communities.
The meeting also allowed the Brazilian visitors to learn more about the project profile, which was presented by Dr. C. Saray Sánchez Cárdenas. The initiative focuses on consolidating local food systems under the «One Health» approach, especially in the face of the challenges of climate change.
The Project «The diversity of forage resources in livestock systems to mitigate the effect of climate change in Cuba», known as FITORED, is sponsored in our country by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and not only promotes agroecology as an engine of development, but also integrates the visions of rural youth and women.
This joint effort between Cuban and Brazilian scientific institutions reaffirms the commitment of both nations to strengthen their ties through scientific cooperation and the exchange of best practices in the agricultural sector.
