The Cuban Union of Computer Scientists was part of the organizing committee of the event, held in the Russian region of Nizhny Novgorod, with the presence of delegations from the Brics countries.

In this first International ICT Olympiad, which took place from the Cuban-Russian collaboration and was developed in stages, the Caribbean nation participated with a total of 150 students in the individual classification round held last April, then came the team classification phase, both from the virtual format, while from May 30th to June 3rd the final competition was held in person.

The event’s program included a Global Digital Forum, held on June 5-6 in the host city, an unprecedented meeting between the Russian IT sector and its partners from the global South and East.

Cuba had the largest foreign delegation at the conclave, with a very intense and productive agenda aimed at enhancing information security and digital sovereignty in the country. In fact, the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Telephony and Communications Company ETECSA and the Russian company Rostelecom Solar, a leader in cybersecurity services, was not long in coming.
