Matanzas speleologists investigate the subway world.

Thanks to speleologists and their research we can learn about the subway world, its characteristics and peculiarities. Hence the importance of the study of caves.

The Matanzas speleological committee is integrated by nine groups of different interests such as archaeologists, cave divers, speleologists, among others.

For the beginning of the year 2025 they emphasize the continuity of the Bellamar project and the beginning of new collaborations. In this regard Esteban Grau González, president of the Matanzas Speleological Committee, stated.

«We have the Bellamar project, born with the Italian society, but we also have new projects with other scientific societies that are advancing with a North American university, with which ecosystem dating is being done to be able to study each formation and what each cave can transmit to us, it is a witness of time.

«The projects that are advancing are young projects and of course each one generates others and another look at science. I think we are opening up, also in caving-diving we have a project of underwater expeditions.»
