Matanzas works to maintain surplus despite business challenges .

Matanzas is working to boost economic development, and to this end the Municipal Administration Council has set the goal of maintaining an economic surplus to support the sustained growth of the territory.

In that sense, a surplus amounting to 439 million pesos has been approved for 2024, backed by a 32.7 percent (%) growth in its ceded revenue plan.

Results through August show that net sales have exceeded P11 million, reaching 102.2 percent of the established plan. This represents a remarkable increase of 268 million pesos compared to plan, in addition to a 14 % growth over the previous month and 30.4 % compared to the same period last year, which translates to 279 million more than planned.

However, the reality of the growth has complex nuances. Despite the achievements, a total of 20 companies in the municipality have failed to meet their targets, failing to produce 1,079 million pesos. In this context, the profits reported so far amount to more than 992 thousand pesos, a result that is overshadowed by the non-compliance of thirteen companies and the losses reported by three others, including the entities Avícola, Silos and Textilera Bellotex.

Despite the challenges, the outlook for Matanzas is offset by the presence of nine companies that have exceeded expected profitability, achieving compliance rates above 120 %.

This balance between challenges and opportunities highlights the importance of fostering the stability of Yumurian companies to ensure sustainable economic growth in the future. The municipality’s administration recognizes that the participation of new economic actors will be very important in advancing these objectives.
