Taking the pulse of the Matanzas harvest 24-25.

The Calimetense sugar mill has the mission of producing the sugar needed by Matanzas, which is in the order of 15,000 tons.

The 2024-2025 harvest in the province of Matanzas was scheduled, in its first attempt, to start on the 25th of this month, a commitment that could not be fulfilled due to small problems in the Jesús Sablón Moreno («Rabí») power plant.

On that occasion, work was done on the detected faults and it was thought that there were no difficulties to carry out the general test this Saturday 28th, which was carried out as planned. In spite of having adopted all the measures and checks foreseen, the result was not as expected.

In the testing process, some imperfections were found that made it impossible to start up the industry. In the next few days, work will be done to adjust the faults, so that when the plant officially starts up, it will not be necessary to stop its machines.

The production plan and the commitment of the Matanzas sugar mills remain unchanged. When the adjustments of the faults found in the recent test are made, information will be given on the start-up date and it is expected that this will be definitive.

It is maintained that after the start-up of the «Rabí», the Mario Muñoz plant in Los Arabos will start, a factory that will grind its canes until it reaches the molasses point, production that will be sent to the «Rabí» to be processed in the distillery of this plant and produce alcohol.

The production plan of the «Rabí» is not altered, the 16 thousand tons (t) are maintained, nevertheless experts of the province maintain the criterion that it can reach 20 thousand (t).
