Young books for Matanzas.

The books «Las aguas y el espejo», by Virgilio Lopez Lemus and «Frei Betto al borde de una paradoja», by Randy Perdomo and Marxlenin Pérez Valdés were presented in the space «La gente pasa y nos mira», at the stand of Aldabón Editions at the Book Fair.

According to Daniel Cruz Bermudez, head of Aldabon Publishing House, Lopez Lemus’ book is a compilation of essays by the author on literature and poetry, while «Frei Betto al borde de una paradoja» presents a look at this intellectual from texts by him and other Cuban writers.

Also present at the event were guests from Ediciones La Luz, who presented their campaign to promote books and reading and the call for entries for the Celestino de Cuento contest.

Under the name «La claridad avanzada» (Advanced clarity), they commented on details about the campaign, where they highlighted the production of audiovisual material about the work of the Holguin publishing house, the design section and the work in social networks.

They also announced the launching of the Celestino short story contest, which is celebrating its 25th edition.

About this award they commented that it is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of «Flora y el Ángel», a book by Rubén Rodríguez, the first author to win the contest, the 40th anniversary of Julio Cortázar’s death and the 110th anniversary of Onelio Jorge Cardoso’s birth.

The contest will be open until May 20th, to which all young writers under 35 years of age may send their originals.

In addition, they will be launching an exceptional poster exhibition for visual artists, residents or not in Cuba and without age limit, to make a visual reinterpretation of the text «Celestino antes del alba» (Celestino before dawn). The exhibition will be from June 10th to 14th during the day of the contest.

The AHS of Matanzas and its publishing house Aldabón will continue with literary presentations and cultural activities during the Book Fair in its spaces of the Chivos Park and the Colonial Patio.
