A group of outstanding young people today recalled the reenactment of the traditional Caravan of Freedom’s journey through different municipalities of the province.
Today, a group of outstanding young people commemorated the reenactment of the traditional Caravan of Freedom’s journey through various municipalities in the province.
With the aim of recalling the route taken by members of the Rebel Army in 1959 on their way to the capital, the event served to highlight the enduring relevance of the Cuban revolutionaries’ ideals. Several young people received their membership cards from the Young Communists League (UJC) from the province’s main political and governmental authorities.
The UJC secretary in Jovellanos, Héctor Yasiel López Santana, stated that the country’s leadership can count on the young people of Matanzas to face any challenge. «From here, from Jovellanos, we want to denounce the vile kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and reaffirm the support of Matanzas’ youth for our Venezuelan brothers and sisters,» he declared.
This edition of the Caravan commemorates the 67th anniversary of the Triumph of January 1st, 1959, and especially extols the figure of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz as the fundamental architect of the Cuban revolutionary process.
