During 2025, more than 5,400 entities were registered in the business sector, of which 2,700—half—belong to the state sector, according to a statistical report.
As is well known, the socialist state enterprise prioritizes generating essential goods and services for the population, and its operation ensures the distribution of resources and guarantees employment in various sectors.
In terms of revenue, the Cuban state sector reported net sales of over 1.4 billion pesos in 2025, a figure that reflects the capacity of state-owned enterprises to contribute to the national economy.
In this context, it is noteworthy that although there has been a reduction of almost six percent in the number of workers, salaries have increased by 20 percent and productivity by twelve percentage points, demonstrating a trend toward greater efficiency in the use of the workforce.
However, experts on the subject agree that the socialist state enterprise has the potential to adapt even further and improve its efficiency, a crucial element in the growth of the economy.
