Crocodiles Contribute to the National Team.

Members of the reigning national champions continue their contributions, now with the national team.

Despite the Cuban national baseball team’s first loss to Nicaragua in their World Baseball Classic preparation series, the Matanzas players on the team put on a commendable performance.

Yoennis Yera, a left-hander from the Martí municipality, was chosen to start the game and, despite allowing an earned run, managed to overcome the challenges.

Yera pitched three complete innings, allowing only three hits, striking out two batters, and displaying command and control.

Right-hander Armando Dueñas, who closed the game in the second game, came in as the closer this time and delivered another solid performance.

The speedy pitcher finished his inning with two strikeouts and a harmless groundout to second base.

Meanwhile, Ariel Martínez was the standout hitter for the team. In four at-bats, he collected two hits and scored the game’s only run.

Caught Andrys Pérez once again delivered a masterclass defensive performance behind the plate, skillfully guiding the pitchers and tackling a runner attempting to steal.

At the plate, he went 1-for-3. The members of the reigning national champions continue their contributions, now with the national team.
