Where Are AI and Political Sciences with a Southern Approach Going?

Cuba currently has an important scientific-technical potential in all branches of knowledge, distinguished by high professionalism, qualification, and experience, and can, given that scientific and technological capacity, propose and achieve alternatives that solve or at least mitigate pressing problems, especially food ones and the supply of quality goods and services, which continue to constitute a burden for that essential subject of any type of change: THE PEOPLE.

The incursion of artificial intelligence (AI) into the legal environment does not only mean a technological revolution, but a true ethical, social, and legal challenge, which determines the foundations of effective, transparent justice, the protection of non-disposable rights — those that cannot be subject to waiver, transaction, or disposition by the holder — and the practice of law, such as the right to life, physical integrity, and equality before the law.

These rights are inalienable and non-transferable, and their protection is a priority for the State.

Law stands before these new realities with the power of adaptation and development that our legal research and nuances present in our legal systems can provide. In this sense, it is very necessary to reflect on Law, its diversity, and ways to address its challenges.

Law must fulfill its leading role in our societies and serve as a beacon and guidance for our societies on the path toward achieving the common good.

Artificial intelligence, which was once limited to the pages of science fiction, cinema, video games, or visions related to the literary world, has invaded our reality with significant force. What was once a chimera is today an instrument that is redefining any accepted, permissible, and significant limit: human limits.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is not just another technology that has burst onto the global scene and will have a limited duration, but has demonstrated its constancy, its possibility of encompassing people’s daily lives, and catalyzing any profound change that innovates the origins of societies.

From the economic, security, cultural, and political planes, the indelible mark of artificial intelligence is increasingly indubitable, more unfathomable.
