One Hundred Years with Fidel at the Ermita de Monserrate

The recent edition of the «Luz Martiana» (Martí Light) space, which regularly takes place at the Ermita de Monserrate in Matanzas, dedicated its gathering to the centenary of the birth of our Commander Fidel Castro Ruz.

This space, organized and directed by the cultural house manager, Milvia Rivero Leicea, prepared a presentation of poems and songs that exalted the figure of the eternal combatant.

The declaimer Gloria González, together with violin student Andrea Naranjo and soloists Arianna de la Vega and Frank Naranjo, enlivened the gathering with melodious compositions.

As part of the «Fidelísimos» Days, the moment provided the perfect opportunity to honor the life and work of the historical leader in celebration of what would have been his one hundredth birthday.

Likewise, cooperation and commitment to the date were acknowledged to the work team not only from the Matanzas institution but also from the different areas of the Monserrate Recreational Cultural Complex.

Neighbors from the community arrived at the center, along with members of the Yoruba Association and representatives of the Combatants Association of the province.

Similarly, members of the Association of Descendants of Spaniards in the territory — including Catalans, Galicians, Canarians, and Asturians — were present.

Some of the personalities attending the activity were Alfredo Lauzurique, president of the José Martí Cultural Society in the province, and directors of the Matanzas Provincial Lodging Company, who coordinate efforts for the Martí club.

During the week of tributes to the eternal leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, various sociocultural activities were deployed in the Yumurino city and its surroundings to remember his legacy.
