Banking system implemented in Pedro Betancourt.

The process of bankarization of financial operations, which is gradually materializing in our country, aims at achieving the reorganization of banking flows on the basis of equity among the different players of the national economy.
Yaremis Prendes Junco, director of Branch 3701 of the Credit and Commerce Bank in Pedro Betancourt municipality, pointed out the effectiveness, immediacy and security of electronic transactions as the main potentialities of this process.

Likewise, Prendes Junco emphasized that in order to carry out the banking system, the operation of the Caja Extra services and the payment with the QR code in entities such as La Casa Carlos, La Línea winery and the Post Office Agency, as well as the Macurijes state agricultural and livestock market and the Macurijes combined market, among others, was evaluated in the territory, while emphasizing the need to expand these services to other establishments in the capital city and the other Popular Councils.

However, in spite of their obvious advantages, problems such as the availability of cellular telephones and magnetic cards; the lack of knowledge of the population regarding the use of electronic payment channels; the instability of the electric power system; the lack of ATMs and mishaps in telephone coverage and data connection, especially in areas of difficult access, as well as the need to train the relevant personnel on the subject, still constitute challenges to be faced in order to achieve the effectiveness of banking penetration.
In this regard, María Argüelles Ibáñez, sales clerk at the Mercado Ideal El Rex, of Pedro Betancourt Business Group, commented.

Stipulated in Resolution 111 of 2023 of the Central Bank of Cuba, put into effect on August 3rd, the process of bankarization aims to digitalize collections and payments, while dynamizing the finances of economic actors and their link with the population.
